Artificial intelligence, software development and energy and environmental solutions are part of the initiatives in the "Launch Your Innovation" program..
A total of 30 innovations from various regions in Chile will be an active part of EXPONOR 2024, as part of theLaunch Your Innovationinitiative that, in its seventh edition, seeks to further strengthen the innovation ecosystem, showcasing innovations that seek to meet both current and future demand from the mining, industrial and energy sectors.
"In this edition we seek to further deepen our focus on presenting innovative products, technologies and services from entrepreneurs or companies with less than 5 years of experience. We offer EXPONOR as a platform to bring knowledge and new ideas to the industry, even responding to challenges not foreseen by companies," explains the person in charge of this initiative, Josefa Pellejero.
These 30 entrepreneurs will be present between June 3 and 6 at a stand sponsored by Escondida|BHP, showing those who attend various disruptive and transformative innovations in products, services and technologies, thus contributing to the sustainable development of the industry, hand in hand with the community throughout the country.
"Of this group of participants, 40% are from the Antofagasta Region, from the counties of Calama, Tocopilla and Antofagasta, and the other 60% come from other regions of the country such as the Metropolitan, Atacama, Valparaíso, O`Higgins, Maule and Aysén Regions, which demonstrates the great interest generated by this event nationwide and the high demand for technological solutions for the mining, industrial and energy market,"Pellejero stated.
Contributions to the industry
A clear example of innovation is the proposal by GACW Latam, who will present the "Air Suspension Wheeldefined by them as a true reinvention of the wheel, recognized by the prestigious Times magazine as one of the best inventions of 2023.
This mechanical and metal wheel, airless and 100% recyclable, offers a long service life, low maintenance, and benefits such as efficiency for motors, fuel savings, lower cost per ton, greater load capacity and safety, including the elimination of polluting plastic.
Another proposal, presented by the company Plaza Ingeniería SPA, seeks to solve one of the great problems that affect mining: the dispersion of dust in the mine loading process, resulting from the mineral falling into the CAEX truck hopper, originating suspended particulate matter that often affects workers in the area of operation.
The innovative solution consists of capturing the dust directly at the source, that is, on the truck, which minimizes the dispersion of the dust by retaining it, capturing it and returning it to the same CAEX hopper.
“On this occasion, solutions will be presented in the areas of energy and environment, artificial intelligence, and software development, among others. These innovations will be seen by over 900 exhibitors, the 40 thousand plus visitors and the executives of the mining, industrial and energy companies that participate in the exhibitionexplains the person in charge of Launch Your Innovación.
After an evaluation of these 30 proposals, 10 of them will move on to a second stage, and will participate in the so-called "Pitch". "After this instance, the two best innovations will receive prizes of 6 and 4 million pesos - financed by Antofagasta Minerals - which will help them to continue developing their projects, in addition to the businesses that they and the other participants may create through their participation in EXPONOR 2024,"the executive emphasizes.
