Record attendance, high international interest and massive participation in seminars and business roundtables marked the twentieth edition of this international exhibition.
Nearly 50,000 people visited EXPONOR 2024, which ended today. In a press conference, the Antofagasta Industrial Association, organizer of the event, delivered the figures for this new edition, with high participation and international involvement, given the more than thirty visiting countries and the 1,146 exhibiting companies.
“We are very satisfied with EXPONOR 2024, we had over 1,100 exhibitors and the participation of 32 countries. Once again, the eye of the world is on the Antofagasta Region as the world capital of mining, with important challenges in innovation and development for the industry. Canada will again be the guest country in EXPONOR 2026, where growth and development will be the keynote of the four days that will once again bring us together", said Marko Razmilic, President of the Antofagasta Industrial Association, AIA.
Assessment
In a preliminary assessment, Marko Razmilic projected US$ 940 million in business after the four days of this exhibition, highlighting the positive evaluation by the exhibitors and the good atmosphere generated among the different actors, conducive to commercial agreements.
The Networking sessions in which 750 people participated with executives from nine mining companies, who presented their portfolio of investments and projects for the coming years with their associated requirements, were fundamental to generating new business. On Monday, these were held by BHP, CODELCO, Capstone Copper and Minera El Abra, by SQM, Sierra Gorda SCM and Teck on the second day, and we finished with Antofagasta Minerals and Glencore on the third day. In addition, 2,800 meetings were held with the participation of 650 supplier companies and 126 executives from 12 large companies, within the framework of the Business Roundtable promoted by EXPONOR.
Also, the 13 seminars held convened 2600 attendees, who had the opportunity to share with top-level experts to discuss various topics.
167 people participated in the site visits, who were able to learn on-site about the operations of Spence | BHP, Albemarle, Minera Centinela, El Peñón, Minera El Abra, Chuquicamata, Radomiro Tomic, in addition to SQM Coya Sur and SQM Salar del Carmen.
International participation
The representatives of the 32 countries present at EXPONOR spoke very highly of the exhibition, emphasizing the organization and support for generating new business. The six international receptions held by Brazil, Germany – Austria and Switzerland, Peru, Australia – Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom stood out in this regard.
This same international platform was used by ProChile for its Business Roundtable that had 500 meetings, in which 130 domestic companies and 12 importers from Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Canada, Australia, Mexico and Brazil participated, projecting business for US$ 20 million.
Brazil, the first Latin American country to be guest of honour, also appreciated the opportunity, which allowed 22 companies from that country to connect and do business on the EXPONOR platform.
Innovation Day
The seminars dedicated to innovation were held today, and the Launch Your Innovation competition ended, sponsored by BHP and Antofagasta Minerals. 10 projects were presented in the Innovation Pitch, of which two were chosen as winners. First place, which received 6 million pesos, went to Cobra Ingeniería y Automatización, for its Automation in heap leach irrigation using clean energies. "Launch Your Innovation is a varied platform and a great springboard for presenting your idea to the world, I appreciate having participated in this opportunity and I invite all innovators to participate in EXPONOR 2026", said Belén Núñez, Director of the company Cobra.
Second place, awarded 4 million pesos, went to WM Technologies por su proyecto First Filter project, which removes up to 99% of nanoparticles and polluting gases in large and light mining vehicles. “EXPONOR is the ideal platform if you have an idea that makes a change in the industry, I appreciate the space given us by the AIA to present ourselves and this great opportunity that it represented for us", said Matías Lagos, International Business Engineer at WM Technologies.
In this way, EXPONOR 2024 closed its doors, hoping to have been an effective contribution to leveraging national economic growth and activation.
