Public and private sectors align to coordinate EXPONOR 2026

Under the slogan "Together for the growth and wellbeing of the region", public authorities and representatives of the private sector met on Tuesday to start coordinating EXPONOR, next year's most important mining-energy exhibition. The meeting addressed the main logistical and strategic challenges of the 21st edition of the event.

One year before the most important event in the mining-energy world, coordination began to prepare the city and the Antofagasta Region for a rewarding experience for visitors and the economic activation that the exhibition entails. The points discussed included the cleanliness and decoration of the city, the viability of the routes, transport to the exhibition grounds, the conservation of the coastal zone, and the availability of hotels and tourism services.

Marko Razmilic, president of the Antofagasta Industrial Association, called for a renewal of the public-private commitment to EXPONOR. "Holding an event of this size is only possible thanks to effective and committed coordination between authorities, public institutions, mining companies and the regional community" , said Razmilic. said Razmilic.

After addressing the logistical challenges, the authorities highlighted the impact of EXPONOR at the regional level. Ricardo Díaz, regional governor, said that "EXPONOR is the most important event for showcasing the industry of our region, and from there, projecting the country's potential for development and growth".

With the aim of facilitating the smooth execution of the exhibition, public institutions are exploring various forms of collaboration. Along these lines, Matias Muñoz, the Regional Ministerial Secretary for Economy, Development and Tourism, said that that "this space strengthens the productive ecosystem of the Antofagasta region and highlights the key role it plays nationally and internationally".

He also underlined how EXPONOR contributes to the wellbeing of the region, strengthening the territory through the provision of local services and the participation of small entrepreneurs, who are fundamental to the area's economic ecosystem.

For his part, Mauricio Soriano, regional director of SERNATUR, added that, as in previous editions, "we make the complete register of tourism services available, to generate collaborative work with hotel establishments and service providers, who will have business opportunities during the exhibition".

This local launch is just the prelude to the international event to be held on July 23 in Santiago, where the official launch of EXPONOR 2026 will take place.
