The exhibition exceeded the expectations of exhibitors for this edition, business projections and the number of visitors, compared to previous years..
Strengthening of economic activity, sustainable solutions for operational challenges in the industry, business projected for US$ 940 million for the next 12 months by the exhibiting companies, among others, was part of the impact of the four days of the EXPONOR 2024 exhibition, organized by the Antofagasta Industrial Association, AIA; essential leverage for the objectives of the Chilean Government's Growth Agenda.
The mining-energy exhibition exceeded the expected figures and, from Antofagasta, it became the largest promotion and business platform of the sector this year in Chile, thanks to the impact on the industry for the coming months, its international scope and relationship with the participating nations in terms of investment and the import and export of goods and services.
When Andrea Moreno, EXPONOR Manager, was asked about the promise they made to be a turning point in the country's economy, what supports the fulfilment of this commitment are the figures of the recent edition: "1,146 exhibitors from 32 countries participated in this twentieth edition, 47,000 people visited from all over the world, in addition, we had national and foreign companies and organizations, and reached one of the highest percentages of international participation of the last editions of EXPONOR, which generated projected business for almost one billion dollarsSo, EXPONOR 2024 did comply and that is demonstrated by the figures and the great reach it had”.
Exhibitor testimonials
One of the traditional exhibitors is XCMG. The Chinese giant states that it has closed business deals in all the editions of EXPONOR, so it assures us that it will continue to be part of it: "EXPONOR 2024 was a quite positive experience for XCMG, it allowed us to focus on products that are 100% applicable in medium and large-scale mining. We had the opportunity to participate in meetings, seminars and, most importantly, to create networks and make many contacts", said Julio Piña, the company's Commercial Director.
Contacts not only to generate business, he adds, but also to look for opportunities to develop new investments "and focus on discovering young talent who are interested in XCMG, answering questions from the press, the regional community and new customers interested in our products and services. Undoubtedly, it was a lot of work, but with a high return", concluded Julio Piña Alegría.
Likewise, ITT Fluid Technology had a good experience in this last edition, closing at least 10 business deals with different mining companies, mainly from northern Chile, for a value of close to one million dollars in supply contracts or services associated with their pumps, the company said.
“We really liked the very innovative format, for example, with the networking and business roundtables offered by the mining companies; it was very interesting to explore new ways to connect the mining companies with the suppliers, with which people could share in a more relaxed way with buyers or users from mining companies, in order to understand their needs and offer the suppliers' products or services. And the attendance of customers and other companies was very good", said Mauricio Salinas Hudson, General Manager of ITT Fluid Technology.
Operating from northern Chile to the world, the Antofagasta Region leads nationally in investment projects, and internationally in copper and lithium production, and is attractive in Latin America for investment in renewable energy. This is in addition to its being geographically notable due to its proximity to the mine sites, which suppliers and exhibitors visited thanks to the Site Visit program offered by the exhibition.
In that scenario, EXPONOR gave a boost to the mining and energy sectors to contribute from their sector, and acted as a window of opportunity to attract employment, business and investment to Chile, which strengthened the region's positioning internationally.
EXPONOR 2024 had the support of its strategic partners Albemarle, Antofagasta Minerals, CODELCO, Escondida | BHP, Minera El Abra, Pan American Silver, Sierra Gorda SCM, Spence | BHP and SQM, together with the backing of APRIMIN, Consejo Minero, Generadoras de Chile, InvestChile, the Ministries of Economy, Mining and Energy, the Regional Government, ProChile, SOFOFA and SONAMI, and Official Media Partners were Minería Chilena, Reporte Minero, El Mercurio de Antofagasta and Timeline.
