EXPONOR 2024: A platform for connecting and growth from Antofagasta to the world

Innovations, disruptive technologies, gender equality, green hydrogen, lithium and the development of human capital are some of the topics that the business gathering will address.

One of the three largest international exhibitions in the industry worldwide, it expects to generate business for over US$ 900 million, projected at 12 months. With 1,146 exhibiting companies spread over 112,000 m2, EXPONOR offers an unbeatable showcase for suppliers and entrepreneurs in the mining-energy industry in the city of Antofagasta.

"The gathering generated by EXPONOR 2024 is a space for domestic and international industry to meet, to talk face-to-face and to learn about the new technologies that will lead the mining of the future", said Marko Razmilic, President of the Antofagasta Industrial Association, AIA.

"Seeing the magnitude of this exhibition, which first began in 1985, versus what it has now become and what it represents for the Region and the country, speaks of how our industry grows by leaps and bounds, positioning itself as a country at the forefront of mining and industry", added Aurora Williams, Minister of Mining.

Along with the Minister of Mining, the Minister of Economy, Nicolás Grau; the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow; the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations, Claudia Sanhueza; and the Undersecretary of Mining, Suina Chahuan, together with top representatives of national trade associations and the large companies in the sector, also led the inauguration.

"The Antofagasta Region is not only becoming the world capital of mining, but it also has the potential to become an in international energy benchmark, and that is what we will see reflected in EXPONOR 2024: the advances that will make Chile a leader in this area", said Diego Pardow, Minister of Energy.

 The international presence of 32 countries and 16 international pavilions was reinforced by the participation of 13 Ambassadors, commercial attachés and representatives of hundreds of companies exhibiting at EXPONOR.

"Brazil is proud to be the first country of the continent to be the guest of honour at EXPONOR. Chile and Brazil have generated a solid alliance in economic matters and that is why we are here today, to strengthen this alliance, for the bilateral growth of both nations", said Paulo Pacheco, Brazilian Ambassador to Chile.

The twentieth edition of EXPONOR in Antofagasta reaffirms the commitment of the AIA and its member companies to economic reactivation. Regional Governor Ricardo Díaz said in his speech, "We all make Chile a rich, solid country with opportunities for growth. Making our mining industry shine internationally is everyone's task; spaces like EXPONOR are crucial for meeting and shaping dreams and projects for national growth", destacó.

Today began early with the ProChile International Business Roundtable that will last until tomorrow with over 500 meetings scheduled between domestic supplier companies and foreign buyers. The meetings of the EXPONOR Business Roundtable also began, an exclusive activity for exhibitors.

The investment portfolio for the coming years will be presented at the first seminar of the exhibition, to be held during the afternoon, reflecting the dynamism that the sector injects into the national economy.

In addition, 29 technical talks were held by exhibitors on energy, gender equality and mining 4.0, which were extremely well-attended. They were joined by visits from delegations from companies such as CODELCO, and students from the Don Bosco Antofagasta and Calama Industrial Technical schools, the Industrial High School, among others.

To close the afternoon, BHP, CODELCO, Capstone Copper and Minera El Abra will present their portfolio of opportunities to over 400 suppliers at the first EXPONOR Networking.

The exhibition will continue until this Thursday, June 6, at the AIA Exhibition and Community Activities Grounds, located in the north of Antofagasta, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Shuttle buses from Plaza Colón and public transport make it easy to get to EXPONOR, which brings countless new features and technologies, in addition to the displays of the large mining and energy companies.
