EXPONOR 2024 seminars will address the human capital needed by the mining industry of the future

This event will have several spaces for discussion by public, private and educational sector actors on the professional and technical profile of the men and women required for the development of the future industry.

The projected investment in the coming years for the mining and energy sector in our country is over USD 71 billion, which implies the development of countless projects throughout Chile. These initiatives will require specialized personnel not only in their construction phase, but mainly in their operation stage, and for this, people who are highly prepared for the challenges that the industry will have to face will be essential.

For this, EXPONOR 2024, a global event that will bring together over 1,100 exhibitors from 30 countries, will have multiple spaces for dialogue, "with the seminars being one of the most prominent opportunities, where various public and private institutions will use this platform as a real sounding board to address the issue and see how we can face the human capital challenges within the existing institutional framework", explains Natalia Femenías, Manager of the Business Development Centre of the Antofagasta Industrial Association.

One of these spaces will be led by the CCM Eleva and Impulsa 4.0 Alliance, who on Wednesday, June 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Chuquicamata Hall, will hold the seminar Where is the human talent for the new challenges in mining?

For Natalia Morales, Manager of the Mining Skills Council, being at EXPONOR is part of her decentralizing strategy of going to mining regions to talk, inform and dialogue about mining and its present, and especially its future, challenges. "We want to provide valuable information for decision-making by the actors linked to mining, including the productive and educational sectors, civil society and the public sector. In this way, they will be aware of the human capital professional and technical skills that are necessary for the growth that mining foresees in the coming years", Morales says.

For her part, Cecilia Meléndez, Manager of IMPULSA 4.0, highlights the importance of participating in this space for reflection and dialogue of territorial relevance, since during the seminar "we will present the regional results of the CCM-Eleva Study on the Chilean Large-Scale Mining Workforce 2023-2032, the advances and findings of the demand for profiles 4.0 that mining will require in the next 10 years, collected by the IMPULSA 4.0 Initiative of the Corporación Cluster Minero of the Antofagasta Region, and CCM-Eleva”.

A prominent space is the discussion that will take place during the seminar "Women and Mining - Female Talent", a meeting co-organized by RedEG Consulting and the Antofagasta Industrial Association, which will be held on Wednesday, June 5, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Mining Cluster Room 1.

That same day, Wednesday, June 5, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Molybdenum Pavilion, the Mining SEREMI will hold the "Safety Workshop with a Female Approach", an instance for reflection on mining safety from the female perspective.

Another important event is the "Eighth Congress of Professional Technical Students of Northern Chile" to be held on Wednesday, June 5, at the Don Bosco Antofagasta Technical-Industrial School.

In this space, students from the main technical-professional educational establishments in the northern macro-zone will discuss their needs for a better education and how the current curriculums respond to the growing needs of technicians and professionals that the industry needs.

The National Training and Employment Service, SENCE, will also address needs in terms of training human capital at the seminar "Training, work and mining", to be held on Tuesday, June 4, in the Chuquicamata Room, between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
