EXPONOR 2015 SHOW SUMMARY
Date: May11th to 15th 2015. Exhibitors: 1,064 companies. Participating Companies: Exhibitors from 30 Countries: Germany, Australia, Canada, Spain, Brazil, United States, Mexico, Peru, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Austria, China, Ecuador, Turkey, Poland, France, South Africa, Italy, Argentina, Panama, Switzerland, Denmark, Bolivia, The Netherlands, Costa Rica, Portugal, Liechtenstein, Taiwan, Finland and Chile. International Pavilions: 14 pavilions Visitors: 42,000. As in previous years, a diverse program of activities took place at Exponor, with the participation of many leaders within the mining and industrial sectors, area specialists and the general public, depending on the activity: Opening Ceremony: The 16th version of Exponor kicked off with 1,000 guests gathered in the Mining Cluster room for a ceremony attended by regional, national and international authorities from the private and public sectors as well as Exponor exhibitors. In previous years, this occasion has served as a strategic space for important announcements, given the high profile of the participating speakers. Seminars: 550 people participated in the 3 seminars carried out during Exponor 2015. "Global Mining, National Challenges". "Virtuous Mining: a Platform for Chile's Future". "Mining Investment Projects in Chile". Business Evenings: 645 exhibitors took part in the two successful Business Evenings: • Asia- Pacific: 353 participants from delegations from Peru, United States, Mexico, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and China. • Europe- Africa: 292 participants from delegations from South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom, Germany, Austria and France. Australia also hosted a Business Evening, which was attended by 250 guests, while the opening ceremony for the United States pavilion attracted 150 participants. Both activities were attended by the Chilean Minister of Mining, Aurora Williams. Technical Visits: Delegations from the most important mining companies in the region visited Exponor: Compañía Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi, Codelco División Radomiro Tomic, SQM, Barrick Zaldivar, Antucoya, Lomas Bayas, Altonorte, Minera Escondida, Codelco División Chuquicamata, Codelco División Gabriela Mistral, SCM El Abra, Minera Michilla, Yamana Gold, Sierra Gorda SCM, Minera Centinela, Angloamerican y Rockwood Litio. Tour Tecnológico: 125 personas disfrutaron de 8 tours tecnológicos a Codelco División Chuquicamata, Sierra Gorda SCM, Codelco División Ministro Hales, Codelco División Radomiro Tomic, SQM, Spence, BarrickZaldívar y Rockwood. Business Meetings: 1,825 meetings took place as part of Exponor's B2B program, bringing together 463 exhibiting companies with 85 mining company executives. Technical Talks: 108 technical talks took place, in addition to a series of presentations on "Energy in the Development of Northern Chile", organized by the University of Antofagasta. Citizen Dialogue: "From Social Responsibility to Shared Value" was the theme for a panel discussion with members of the business sector and community organizations. Participants in the debate included Emile Ugarte, architect and urban planner; Marcelo Glavic, Head of Sustainable Development for Minera Centinela; Jean Seura, member of the anti-pollution movement “Este polvo te mata” ("This Dust Kills"); Lucas Martinich and Jorge Díaz, directors of the Antofagasta Industrial Association, as well as the spokesman for “No Más Quemas” ("No More Burning Tyres"), Víctor Silva. The discussion was moderated by Bruno Canobra from “Este Polvo te Mata”. Launch your Innovation: 41 emergent innovators exhibited their products at the Launch Platform provided by Exponor, with 120 m2 of exhibition space within the show's business center. Ten entrepreneurs were selected to present an Innovation Catalyst Pitch, highlighting their ideas in front of public and private institutions. After Exponor 2015, the 41 emerging innovators continued to work with the AIA Junior Club, an initiative carried out in conjunction with the Antofagasta Industrial Association and NGO Región Fértil and co-financed by the national productive development body, Corfo. Innovation Zoom: Innovations and technologies in areas such as Health, Occupational Safety and Human Capital, Mining and Plant Equipment, Applied Technology, and Energy and Water were exhibited at a special stage within Exponor. This activity was carried out in partnership with Area Minera Media. Business Projections: Exponor 2015 is estimated to have generated a total of USD$ 850 million in business transactions over the course of thefollowing year.
