INNOVATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES TO REDUCE COSTS, INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY AND AVOID ACCIDENTS AT EXPONOR 2017
Are you looking for high-quality training at reduced costs? Then you should know about the personal computer-based “Virtual Reality Training Simulators” offered by the company Holos, which allow users to carry out decision-making exercises, learning about the consequences of their choices. This is just one of the innovations and technologies that will be available at Exponor 2017. Another of the products on display during this major event aims to optimize and reduce costs, without nitrous gas generation and with high water resistance. This is “Quantex”, from the company EXSA CHILE SpA, a new bulk explosive for open pit mining, which provides more power and sensitivity, with a wide range of densities and breaking force. “Our division and the Corporation as a whole have cost reduction and increased productivity as part of their objectives, so we hope to use this space to find technology and sustainable innovations that can contribute to this challenge”, Sergio Parada, General Manager of the Chuquicamata Division at Codelco explained. Meanwhile, avoiding damage of any type, pressure drops and high temperatures is the idea behind the product “Ultraseal”, which is used to reinforce tires on trucks and industrial equipment, reducing costs associated with stoppages, maintenance and operations. This product will be available at stand 310 A in the Silver Pavilion at Exponor. Hundreds of innovative products and services will be present at the exhibition: another clear example is the “HIOKI PW3365-20 Potentiometer without Metallic Contacts”, from the company Instrumentación Electrónica Ltda. This device allows for voltages to be calculated safely and accurately, avoiding the risk of short-circuit that can occur if a technician accidentally leaves one of the metal clips in contact with the adjacent terminal, as well as the hazard of electric shocks if they accidentally touch an exposed conductor. With this type of products in mind, Patricio Lazcano, executive director of the Antofagasta Industrial Association’s Center for Technological Extension (CET) explained that human resources, information systems and technological capacity will be key in overcoming the new challenges facing companies. “Innovation is fundamental, because the industry is constantly changing. That’s why we talk about the culture of innovation”. The leader of the CET also invited the mining world to visit the show and get to know the products and services available at Exponor. It is important to highlight that Exponor 2017, which will take place from May 15th to 19th at the AIA Event Ground, with the United States as guest nation, has backing from important actors in the sector such as Antofagasta Minerals, Minera El Abra, Codelco, Minera Escondida, SQM, Yamana Gold and the Supplier Qualification System (SICEP). Its sponsors are: the Mining Council, Sonami, Sofofa, Aprimin, Corfo, the Chilean Government, the Ministry of Mining, the Ministry for the Economy, Development and Tourism, Pro Chile, Direcon and the Regional Government. Its press partners are the magazine Minería Chilena, Radio Bio Bio and El Nortero de Antofagasta.
