Minister Prokurica: "Exponor has an unparalleled effect on the linkages between industry, suppliers and users"
The organizing committee at the Antofagasta Industrial Association (AIA) held important meetings this week with the Chilean Minister of Mining, BaldoProkurica, and the senior Chinese diplomat Xu Bu. During his official tour of the show, Mr. Prokurika visited the EXPONOR 2019 stand, where he exchanged views with the General Manager of the AIA, Fernando Cortez, and the Expo Manager of EXPONOR, Andrea Moreno, stating his full support for the 18th version of the show, which will take place in Antofagasta. In this sense, the head of the Mining Ministry expressed his "congratulations to the organizers of EXPONOR, because this event has an unparalleled effect on the linkages between the industry, suppliers and users". Meanwhile, the General Manager of the AIA, Fernando Cortez, stated that "we thank the Minister for his words, which we take to reflect the commitment that we made when we began to organize Exponor in terms of investment, innovation, competitiveness and also community development".
Visit from the Ambassador of China
The same day, the Ambassador of China, Xu Bu, together with the Economic and Commercial Councillor at the Chinese Embassy, Liu Rutao, and the General Manager of Asia Reps, Yung Han Shen, met at EXPONOR's booth at the exhibition to discuss China's participation as guest nation of next year's show. In this sense, the General Manager of Asia Reps, Yung Han Shen, explained that "we have very positive expectations for 2019, having been chosen as the guest nation at EXPONOR. Today, productivity and innovation are fundamental to the Chilean mining industry, and China is positioned to offer a multitude of solutions in different areas. We therefore wish to put together a program of work from now until the show in 2019, to generate a platform through EXPONOR that will promote greater exchange in these areas". The 2019 version of Exponor, which will take place from May 27th to 30th at the AIA Event Ground with China as guest nation, has the backing of relevant actors in the sector such as ALBEMARLE, Antofagasta Minerals, Lomas Bayas, Minera Escondida, SQM and theSupplier Qualification System (SICEP). Its sponsors are: the Mining Council, Sonami, Sofofa, Aprimin, the Government of Chile, the Ministry of Mining, the Ministry for the Economy, Development and Tourism, Pro Chile, Direconand the Regional Government. It is important to highlight that, at the 2017 version of Exponor, annual business worth a projected 800 million US dollars was generated by a thousand exhibitors from 30 countries. The show received 40 thousand visitors, 1,292 face-to-face meetings were held with 98 executives from 16 mining companies 7 site visits, 120 technical talkswere carried out along with 3 after-office networking sessions and 3 seminars with the participation of 950 people, and over 300 technologies and innovations were presented prior to the event.
