Energy giants confirm their participation in Exponor 2019 and highlight the Energy Pavillion
The new business platform promoted Exponor 2019 is meeting its goal of boosting the development of the energy sector with large companies from this growing industry taking part. Boosting the development of the energy industry and strengthening links with the mining sector are the objectives of the new Energy Pavillion, a business platform that will be part of Exponor 2019 and will bring mining firms and suppliers to the industry together in one place. With under two months to go until the international exhibition, which will take place in Antofagasta, key players in the sector have already signed up: Colbún, Mainstream RP, Aes Gener, Engie and Enel X. These include Colbún, a Chilean power generation company with projects in Chile and Peru which intends to double in scale by 2030 through renewable energy, which will mean additional capacity of 4,000 MW with an investment estimated at four to five billion dollars. These projects will be presented at the new Energy Pavilion. "We are developing the Horizonte project, which consists of a 607 MW windfarm in the Municipality of Taltal, Region of Antofagasta. Un 2019, we hope to carry out the technical and environmental studies to begin filing for permits early in 2020. Other projects include the 150-200 MW Sol de Tarapacá solar facility in the Municipality of Pozo Almonte, Region of Tarapacá, where we hope to complete environmental assessment studies and engineering to estimate the final investment", explained general manager Thomas Keller. Meanwhile, Enel X, a multinational company which is focusing its efforts on digitalization, sustainability and innovation in the energy industry commented that "we will put our value proposition on display: solar photovoltaic power, control and management systems, automation and efficient lighting systems, climate control and electric vehicles. We hope that our clients will come and see what we have to offer and to be able to develop projects together that contribute to sustainability and care for the environment". Along the same lines, both companies agreed that this new pavilion was "positive, as it highlights the importance of the energy sector for the development of the country as well as the progress across a range of renewables in the national energy grid", in the words of Thomas Keller, general manager at Colbún. "This pavilion is highly relevant because it helps to bring together visions for the sector, facilitating the identification and creation of opportunities to develop projects that contribute to innovation, sustainability and modernization in the mining industry (...) Energy and mining are closely linked, making them strategic partners for productive development", Enel X explained. The Energy Pavillion will feature Global Soluciones, Tecic, Comercial Larraín Norte, Vimarc, Ilumina Limitada, Molisol, Seis, AtaMoS-TeC, the Electrical-Electronic Industrial Association (AIE), Electricidad Magazine, Reporte Sostenible and the Regional Ministerial Secretary for Energy together with the Integrated Territorial Program (PTI) for the Energy Industry; the latter will be presenting the most important energy projects under development and in the pipeline for the Region of Antofagasta, along with Aes Gener and Engie which will exhibit at Exponor.
