Major mining companies confirm their participation at Exponor 2019
Metallic and non-metallic mining firms will make their presence felt with their business centres and take part in activities organised as part of Exponor. Ticket sales and bookings have been promising, reflecting the importance of this event for generating new business for the mining industry. The organisation of the International Exhibition of Technology and Innovation for the Mining Industry, Exponor 2019, continues at a healthy pace with key metallic and non-metallic mining firms in the country confirming their presence at the event, which will take place in Antofagasta, the world's mining capital, from May 27th to 30th next year. These include Codelco, the state company represented in the north of Chile by the mines Chuquicamata, Radomiro Tomic, Ministro Hales and Gabriela Mistral; Escondida and Spence - BHP; Antofagasta Minerals (AMSA) which operates Antucoya, Centinela and Zaldivar; Minera El Abra, operated by Freeport McMoRan; Teck – Quebrada Blanca and the non-metallic mining firms Albemarle and SQM, all of which will be present at the event with business centres staffed by company executives, along with activities organised by Exponor such as business meetings, employee and executive delegations to the Exhibition, seminars, after-office networking events and others. With this in mind, Marko Razmilic, president of the Antofagasta Industrial Association, which organizes Exponor 2019, highlighted the opportunity that the participation of major mining firms represents for suppliers. These companies will be present at the show in order to find new services and products that meet the demands of their operations. "With the participation of major mining companies already confirmed, we are providing a huge opportunity for the industry and its suppliers to win new business. The platforms available for both suppliers and mining companies to build linkages have opened the door to new business and attracted new investment. We are calling on suppliers not to let the opportunity to win new and important contracts pass them by", stated Razmilic.
Promising stand sales
"We are currently in a phase of recovery of mining activity, and Exponor is key to achieving this goal", explained Diego Hernández, president of SONAMI, some weeks ago. This has been reflected in the promising number of stands sold and reserved for the 18th version of Exponor. With six months still to go until the event, the proportion of exhibitor stands already sold or reserved has hit 87%, a figure that reflects high expectations of the event on the part of the industry for the event, which in 2017 generated projected business worth over US$ 800 million. The 2019 edition of Exponor, which will take place from May 27th to 30th with China as guest nation, has the backing of key actors in the sector such as Albemarle, Antofagasta Minerals, Codelco, Lomas Bayas, Minera Escondida, SQM, Yamana Gold and the Supplier Qualification System (SICEP). Its sponsors are: the Mining Council, Sonami, Sofofa, Aprimin, the Chilean Government, the Ministry of Mining, the Ministry for the Economy, Development and Tourism, Pro Chile and the Regional Government of Antofagasta. Its press partners are Minería Chilena, Radio Bío Bío and Reporte Minero. The 2017 edition of Exponor has been projected to generate business worth 800 million dollars annually and brought together a thousand exhibitors from 30 countries. 40 thousand visitors were recorded and 1,292 face-to-face meetings took place with the participation of 98 executives from 16 mining companies, along with 7 site visits, 120 technical talks, 3 after-office networking sessions and 3 seminars in which 950 people participated. Over 300 technologies and innovations were presented in the run up to the event.
