May 15-19th, 2017, Antofagasta - Chile
From May 15th to 19th:

With a flat fee of one thousand pesos per day, the money raised will fund emergency equipment for volunteer firefighters. “Extraordinary” was how the director of the fifth company of firefighters of Antofagasta, Marcelino Lepe, described the agreement signed last with the Antofagasta Industrial Association (AIA) on April 4th at the main station, which will allow the company to administrate parking at Exponor for the 5 days of the show, at Avenida Pedro Aguirre Cerda 17101. “Every little helps, because, although we receive funding from public and private institutions, we always value opportunities to access resources. Most of the equipment, gloves, helmets, uniforms, and more, must be certified, and purchased from abroad, so the costs are very high. With the resources that we raise from the administration of the parking lots at Exponor, we are planning to purchase new equipment and other supplies for emergency control”, Lepe added. The only fee charged to users of the parking spaces will be a flat cost of $1,000 (around USD $1.50) per vehicle, for a full day’s parking at Exponor (morning and afternoon). If the driver leaves the site in their vehicle and returns, they can present their ticket and will not be charged again. For Fernando Cortez, General Manager of the AIA, this is a collaboration that we have had for several years, in which the fire service takes on the administration of the parking at the show. They have demonstrated that they can carry out this task efficiently, and it also allows them to raise resources for the work of the Antofagasta fire brigade. We are very happy to make this agreement, as one of the positive impacts of Exponor in the community”. An initiative that will keep visitor vehicles safe at the site, while also contributing economic resources for the acquisition of safety implements and emergency control equipment for the fifth and tenth companies of firefighters in Antofagasta. Exponor 2017, which will take place from May 15th to 19th at the AIA Event Ground, with the United States as guest nation, has the backing of actors from the sector, such as Antofagasta Minerals, Minera El Abra, Codelco, Minera Escondida, SQM, Spence, Yamana Gold and the Supplier Qualification System (SICEP).
